What happens if there is no PCN information on a case for a person who was fingerprinted or booked into jail?
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) Process Control Number (PCN) is assigned by local law enforcement when a person is fingerprinted or booked into jail. It is a number which links the disposition information to the criminal fingerprinting event. When there is no PCN number associated with a defendant, the automatic transfer of disposition data to WSP cannot occur, so information must be sent manually to WSP. Mail the disposition information to:
Washington State Patrol
Identification and Criminal History Section
PO Box 42633
Olympia WA 98504-2633
(360) 534-2000, option 5
If a PCN is never entered on a criminal case, then the disposition for that case will NEVER be transmitted electronically to the WSP by the Washington State Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), nor will that information be included in the WASIS Disposition Transfer Report that is generated nightly by the AOC and sent to the court's print domain *.
The WSP regularly reviews the cases over a year old where they have received PCNs from booking incidents but have not received a corresponding disposition from the AOC. However, the WSP's first priority is to keep the AOC-reported criminal dispositions current within 30 days. Only when the WSP is caught up to that point does their staff focus on older PCN bookings without a disposition.
