How much revenue is generated and how much can be reduced from a standard infraction?


Effective January 1, 2023, a standard traffic infraction penalty is $145.00.  The attached document "Anatomy of a Standard Infraction Penalty 2023" gives the specific breakdown of the mandatory assessments and distributions.  This includes the statutory references, restrictive language on waiving or suspending a penalty/assessment/fine, and what local revenue is generated. The document "Reduced Traffic Infraction Penalty July 2019" and "Reduced Non-Traffic Infraction Penalty July 2015" show the reduction to state and local monies when a fine is reduced.


The additional attached documents show the breakdown of the amounts from standard fines prior to January 1, 2023.
