Does the Receipt Miscellaneous Payment (MSP) screen allow credit card payments for unidentified money?

Yes. For courts of limited jurisdiction, the MSP screen was changed in April 2008, to allow the credit card payment method to be used with the "UM-Unidentified Money" cost fee code. This new function will be helpful when a credit card payment advice from a bank or payment company includes a case number that is not filed in your court, for example.

The benefits of using the MSP screen for credit card non-case-related unidentified money are:

  • Better accountability.
  • Easier receipting.
  • Balancing at end of day.
  • Less need for "workarounds."

See the Receipt Unidentified Money section in the JIS Online Manual for details.
