What changes were made to the Law Table for courts of limited jurisdiction (CLJ) as of July 22, 2007?

On July 22, 2007, the total penalties for all traffic infractions increases again.  The Washington State Legislature enacted two laws that affect traffic infraction penalties:

  • Engrossed Third Substitute House Bill 1001 (E3SHB 1001) established an Auto Theft Prevention Authority Account to support programs designed to prevent motor vehicle theft.  To finance these programs, RCW 46.63.110 (7) was amended to include a fee of $10 per traffic infraction.  The legislation directed that revenue from this new fee shall be forwarded to the state treasurer for deposit in the newly established Auto Theft Prevention Authority Account.  This fee may NOT be reduced or waived.

  • Second Substitute House Bill 2055 (HB 2055) established a Traumatic Brain Injury Account to support programs for individuals with traumatic brain injuries.  To finance these programs, RCW 46.63.110 (7) was amended to include a fee of $2 per traffic infraction.  The legislation directed that revenue from this Traumatic Brain Injury fee shall be forwarded to the state treasurer for deposit in the newly established Traumatic Brain Injury Account.  This fee MAY be reduced or waived.

The above fees are effective July 22, 2007.

Total penalty amounts for ALL traffic infractions increased by $12.  As of July 22, 2007, the complete Bail Schedule is available from the Court Resources/Court Management page of the Inside Courts Web site.
