How much are interpreter fees for legal proceedings and who pays them?

RCW 2.43.040 - Fees and expenses - Cost of providing interpreter, states that an interpreter is entitled to a reasonable fee and shall be reimbursed for actual, reasonable expenses.  In general, a Washington State certified court interpreter is paid $35-$50 per hour. However, this rate is entirely dependent on which language is needed and in what area of the state the interpreter is needed.

RCW 2.43.040 also states that "...the cost of providing the interpreter shall be borne by the governmental body initiating the legal proceedings."
