How can I get a copy of the Media Guide to Washington State Courts that contains reporters' tips for accessing court records and proceedings?
The Media Guide to Washington State Courts is available online from the News & Info page of the Washington Courts Web site.
This guide is provided by the Board for Judicial Administration's Public Trust and Confidence Committee with assistance from the New Jersey Press Association. It was created with much input from journalists, judges, and legal professionals. A pocket-sized, printed copy has been sent to news organizations across Washington State.
The purpose of the guide, excerpted from the Foreword, is as follows:
This handbook is published to help journalists better understand
Washington courts and the justice system. Â It is designed to provide an
overview of the court system at all levels, as well as easily referenced
information concerning court procedures, trials, appeals, ethics, access to
records, a glossary of legal terms and a resource list.
