What does the State of Washington use to test blood alcohol content (BAC) in DUI investigations?  Are breathalyzer machines certified by the State of Washington?  Where can I find information about certification?

Washington uses BAC DataMaster breathalyzers to measure the BAC in DUI (driving under the influence) investigations.

Yes, the Washington State Patrol (WSP) certifies and maintains records for every BAC DataMaster breathalyzer used in Washington State.

The certificates are maintained by the Washington State Patrol Forensic Laboratory Services, from whose Web site you can search for a specific machine by the machine number.  The usage history, repair history, service status results, and repair history are available for each machine.
