If juvenile courts are no longer entering dependencies, do the SCOMIS case numbers still need to be entered on the old dependency cases?

This is a business decision your court needs to evaluate in terms of:

  • The age of the case/referral.
  • The age of the youth.
  • The probability of needing the most accurate history reports, and
  • The resources available for data entry.

For any older dependencies which are not closed that you have entered in JUVIS, it is recommended you enter the SCOMIS case number to assure the best history report. It is further recommended that you complete this task before conversion to maximize the usefulness of your JCS history reports and to minimize the amount of post conversion clean-up tasks.

After conversion, you may continue this task in JCS for any remaining unlinked referrals and SCOMIS case numbers.
