Does General Rule (GR) 26 require new judicial officers to attend the Judicial College?
Yes. Under GR 26, all newly appointed or elected judicial officers must attend Judicial College offered by the Board for Court Education (BCE) within 12 months of appointment or election to the judicial office. Judicial officers appointed or elected after July 1, 1998, who have never attended Judicial College must also attend.
