Does a protection orders expire automatically in JIS when the expiration date is passed?
Yes. The order status automatically changes to E (Expired) at 12:00 a.m. on the day following the recorded expiration date.
For example, if the expiration date is Monday the 10th, the order will be active through that day and expire at midnight that night. The order will no longer be active beginning at 12:01 a.m. on the 11th.
No action by the court is required unless the order is actually terminated before the expiration date. For order history to show that the judge ordered a termination rather than simply allowing the order to expire, the court should use the Order Change screen (ORD) to enter the Terminated date.
