How do I get called for jury duty?

Jurors are selected at random from voter registration, driver's license, and "identicard" records.

To be eligible for jury service, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Reside in the county in which you are to serve as a juror.
  • Be able to communicate in English.
  • Have had your civil rights restored if you have ever been convicted of a felony.

See Chapter 2.36 RCW (Revised Code of Washington) for the Washington State statutes on Juries, including laws on how juries are selected, juror qualification, jury summons, excuse from service, juror expense payments, leave of absence from employment, failure to appear penalty, and more.

General information about jury service in Washington State is available from the Welcome to Jury Duty page of the Washington Courts Website.
